Welcome to the Friends of St Mary’s Hawkesbury website.

St Mary’s Hawkesbury is a beautiful ancient church in the hamlet of Hawkesbury, near Hawkesbury Upton, on the Cotswold Way.

The Friends of St Mary’s was formed in 1980 by people who care deeply about the beauty and tranquillity of the church and its grounds and who recognise that supporting such a monument is beyond the means of normal parish activity.

As a Grade One listed building, St Mary’s requires constant care and attention. Our aim is to ensure that visitors and parishioners can appreciate St Mary’s for years to come.

“I have many churches in my diocese but one of my favourites is St Mary’s. This has been a place of prayer and contemplation for over a thousand years and you can feel it.” – Bishop Michael of Gloucester (1947-2017)
